Scarlett is a 4-5 year old sweetheart who has adapted quickly to her new freedom. Her continuous wagging tail is an indication that she enjoys the change in her environment from the cage that she called home to full use of the house. This precious girl is darling in appearance and gets around well with her two strongest senses (smell and sound). Although it appears that she has been blind from birth, since she arrived at the foster home in November, she has learned to sit on command , use the doggy door and potty outside with some training and encouragement. She sleeps in her own bed at night and loves to play with stuffed toys. Although she may be blind, she will find her way into your heart quickly.
Blindness in an animal is known to be harder on the human than the animal. They adapt easily. DFWPRC of Texas has had numerous blind Pugs and we have fosters who have experience with them who can help you. We also have other information on blind dogs as well. It doesn't change them, but it will change you. You will learn to admire the ability of these animals to adapt. Thank you for considering one of our special needs Pug angels.
UPDATE April 1, 2008
This is no April Fool's Day joke! I can sit and roll over now. Is that unbelievable? Sight means nothing to us! I'm a real smarty, ask my foster mom and dad. I know what my baby is too! I do everything for a treat of course! My potty habits are terrific. I sometimes have an accident at night in the kitchen where I hang out but that's it. I've had a wonderful family teaching me things. Can you open up your heart and home to me? Don't let special needs fool you. Blindness in me in harder on humans than it is on me! Really! Thanks for checking me out!
