Welcome to the wonderful world of pugs!

Pugs Available In DFW

  • NORMA RAE

Hello everyone we would like to introduce Norma Rae.  She is about 3 years old and an absolute delight to have around.  We rescued Norma Rae on a Sunday morning and the next Monday was a holiday so we were forced to bring her to our home until Tuesday.  Norma is still here!!!  If there ever was a perfect foster to have then she is it.  She gets along well with the other 9 Pugs she was forced to be with, does not pay any attention to the cat, uses the doggie door on her own (she was never shown), and loves to be with her human.  The only draw back to Norma she will not stay in a crate but there is no need for her to do so.  She list her demands as follows:

    1. A MINIMUM OF TWO MEALS A DAY

    2. TREATS A MUST AT ALL TIMES

    3. I MUST SLEEP IN YOUR BED.

    4. I PREFER A STAY AT HOME PARENT AS I NEED A LOT OF ATTENTION!

All kidding aside Norma would do best in a home with someone there.  She is a very people Pug and gets depressed when we are not around.  A retired person would be perfect for her as she is a perfect little lady.  Please apply today as she is very healthy and really needs a family of her own.

  • CARMEN

I was rescued very recently from a life of slavery and prostitution.  I gave birth to puppies I didn't want and couldn't keep. Never the less I became attached to each and every one. Then, every few months my puppies were stripped from me and I was once again presented to this male to once again become pregnant and start the vicious cycle all over again.

Yesterday (8/26/08) I was put into a van with another pug and brought from Missouri to Texas....Geez! It's hot here!  I was told that I am now in foster care (whatever that means) and that I won't have to have puppies ever again.  My foster mom said that I'm just adorable.  There are five other pugs like me at this place and they all seem to do what they want, when they want.  They even get to roam all over the house!  I've never had so much space to move around in!

I'm still a little shy and timid but have discovered that being held by a human and having my ears rubbed is wonderful.  I need a home of my own where I'll be able to become part of a real family.  I'm not a big girl, only 16 pounds.  I'm not sure of my exact age - somewhere between 3 - 5 years.

  • MONA

Mona is an absolutely adorable 3 year old fawn pug girl.  She was obviously used as a breeding pug.  Those days are over, as she was spayed on 8/21!  She also had a dental, was heartworm negative, and got a clean bill of health.  Her coat is in excellent condition, and it is very soft and plush.

Mona is petite, but solid and round.  She gets along just fine with cats and other dogs.  She loves people, and will not let me out of her site.  In fact, it was hard to get pictures of her because she stuck so close to me!  She discovered chewie bones, and became instantly addicted!  She has not had any accidents in the house yet, so she might be house-trained.  She rode just great in the car.  She met my neighbor and her dog, and she had great manners.  My pug Rufus has a crush on her, as you can see from the picture!

She needs a little bit of self-confidence, but that will come with time.  I havent seen her play with the other dogs yet, but she is not scared of them and does not avoid them.  She has picked up a couple toys, but quickly drops them.  She does not like to be crated and will put up a big fuss.  She slept on the bed and barely moved the whole night.

Mona would be a great fit for just about any adoption situation.  She is a sweetheart of a pug, and will be very  happy just hanging out with her people.  Her tail wags all the time.  She stares at me with eyes full of  love.  She has a very cute smile.  Her new family should be prepared for this girl to follow their every footstep!

  • RAMADA

Hi, my name is Hillbilly and I need a new home.  I am out of doggie jail on parole and I must have a new family or back behind bars I go.  I am 3-4 years old and I have heart worms.  These nice people who are supervising me said they would take care of the heart worms all I have to do is look cute and persuade a new family to adopt me.  I am 19 pounds and a real lover.  I had a mile ear infection but that has been treated.  I also have to be fixed then rid myself of the nasty heart worms.  If you think I might be the one you were looking for please apply today and ask for me.  Please don't send me back to doggie prison.

  • COWBOY

This my friends is Cowboy.  He was purchased by a family that made him an outdoor dog and as we all know Pugs do not live outside.  He was just left in the backyard day after day for 4 years.  This family would check on him when they thought about it and did little else.  Finally one day they decided to give him away and as always DFWPRC was on the spot.  Cowboy has some hair loss due to fleas and ticks but that should be OK with the proper attention and a good diet.  He had an ear infection due to the ticks in the ears and that also has been treated.  Cowboy weighed in at 20 pounds and he needs a patient family that will teach him the proper way to be a Pug.  He has a lot to learn but otherwise is a very happy little guy.  If you think you might be that family with lots of love and patience then please as kl for Cowboy as he needs you.

  • TUCKER

Meet Tucker as he has a story to tell.  Tucker is about 4 yrs old and in good shape.  This little guy is with us because of the recent hurricane.  He was here with his family and two other Pugs and the guys got loose from the family.  They found his brother and sister but not Tucker.  When Tucker did turn up the family was already back in Louisiana and told us just keep him they were not driving back to Dallas...how sad!!  Their loss is someone's big gain.  Tucker's foster mom says he is housebroken and is her constant shadow.  if you are looking for a companion Pug that wants to involved in everything you do at home then Tucker is the guy.  Ask for him today on an application.

  • IHOP

Ladies and Gents my name is Ihop and I came in the same transport as my new buddy Denny. I am about 4-5 yrs old and I too was in a local jail.  I think it was littering or jay walking nothing serious.  Anyway I did my time like the judge ordered and I was released to these nice folks on the condition I get "fixed" and adopted to a nice family.  Not sure about the fixed thing but the nice family part sounds great.  I am a hefty boy of about 28 pounds so there is a lot of me to love.  If you are looking fro that big lump of fur to hang out with please consider me.  Fill out the application today and I will be ready to go as soon as I figure out that "fixed" part.  Thanks!

  • DENNY

Hello friends and fellow Pug lovers!! My name is Denny and I am 4-5 yrs old.  I tip the scales at 22 pounds and I am full of love to give some family that is willing to take a flyer on me.  The Doc says I am healthy except for a bit of skin loss due to having fleas.  I was in jail in a local city and served my time with no incidents.  As soon as my sentence was up this nice lady whisked me away to get me checked out.  I am heart worm free and more than ready for that new family I have been craving.  I don't ask for a lot just a nice inside place to hang out and a couple of meals a day and 100% of your attention.  Please consider me and fill out an application right away...I'M WAITING!!!

  • STONEWALL & ULYSSES

    ANOTHER PAIR OF PUGS

This handsome pair have been together all of their lives.  They belonged to an older lady that decided she could no longer give them the proper care they need.  These two came to DFWPRC in excellent shape with detailed medical records.  They were current on everything and have been micro chipped.  They are between 7-9 yrs old but get around like a couple of youngsters. If you have been waiting for a good fit and wanted two pugs then these two could be the answer.  They are currently in foster care and would love to make that a short stay.  They love their foster mom but they want that forever home so they can go on with their lives in a normal way.  They miss their old family but will adapt very quickly.  Please consider this pair for your home...you will not regret taking two.

  • HANK...ADOPTION PENDING

My name is Hank and I just turned 2 yrs old and I find myself homeless.  I belonged to a guy who bought me to breed and then finally decided that was too much trouble so he seemed to just forget about me.  I was with my partner Baby Girl living in a horse barn where I obtained this nasty eye injury.  Dr G said it had to come out so I will only have one eye to find my food bowl.  I am sure I will be OK as the other eye is in great shape.  I am very clean and really would like to find out what being a Pug is all about.  I hear that if you get the right human they can be easily trained.  Please ask for me on an application today.  if you can spare any extra cash for my un expected medical that would be great.  Thanks!!

  • COCHE

My name is Coche and I was out for a nice romp around the neighborhood and I  was run down by a SUV.  I promise the light was green and they just ran me over.  Anyway a nice lady saw this happen and came to my aid.  I was rushed to a nice animal hospital and the lady said fix him where he will be OK and I will pay the bill.  I thought hey a new Mama.  Little did I know she just wanted the bare basics done and then I was shipped to animal control.  I had pain meds nut I was really scared and was hurting.  Then out of the blue a lady from DFWPRC walked in said wrap him up he is coming with me.  I was driven half way to Ft Worth where I was picked up by another guy who wasted no time in getting me to another Doc.  There they said I was about 1 1/2 yrs old and probably had a broken leg.  This good Doc said he would have me up and running in no time.  they said I would get everything that was not right fixed and then I am available for some LUCKY person to come and adopt me.  Please consider me for your home and I promise I will never go in the road again.  thanks for looking.
